2025 Rectus Femoris Strain
Background
Injury sustained on 07/06/2025 at 2025/2026 summer conference and fitness test.
Dalkeith track was wet due to rain. Right foot slipped in drive phase of second sprint. Pain was immediately 9-10/10. Test Failed - Withdrawal due to injury.

First time attending. Very Impressed. Physio is used by other referees. One of which is Category 1
Diagnosis:
Grade 1/2 Rectus Femoris strain.
Week 1-2 (09/06/2025-25/06/2025)
Week Beginning 09/06/2025
- Rehab plan:
- Perform twice per week.

- Management:
- Maintain RICE (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate)
- No Impact or Running for 2 weeks
- Avoid Stretching
- Weights can be progressed when ready.
Rehab Session 1 (10/06/2025)
- Gym Work
- Seen Lauren and received a 25-30 minute session of tense machine treatment on quads. EMS-TENS machine that was used.
- Sauna attended after for circulation improvement.

Rehab Session 2 (13/06/2025)
- Gym work as per rehab plan
- RDL was comfortable @ 50kg. As this is the main exercise that doesn't put strain on the rec fem I upped weight to 60kg (20kg both sides + 20kg bar).
- Pain on leg press had reduced from 3/10 at 70kg to 1/10. Weight upped to 100kg pain 1-2/10.
- Steam room (10mins) & Sauna (5mins) attended to improve circulation.
